The weather is still glorious and we took the start in high spirits, Fifth car on the road, always a good place to be.
Two tests followed and again the Fiat had lock issues, no reversing but careful turning was required so as not to damage any walls or paintwork.
The next regularity was almost perfect. Three timing points at zero seconds and the fourth with only a 1 second penalty. I think the marshal was a bit trigger happy!
After lunch by the Menai Straits things hotted up with the complexity of regularities and tests increasing, we did well enough and with me pulling the handbrake at the right moment on the tests enabled swifter test times on the tight turns.
Spectacular scenery and cracking roads with an army of marshals and helpers made for a great days rallying. Apparently there have been some minor issues on parts of the route and one regularity (our worst one!) was scrubbed from the results and with the ‘joker’ system (your worst reg result over 5 seconds per day being removed) we are second in class. Still two days to go and we’re getting used to a different format of regulations so let’s hope for the best….
