Winter Trial leg 2

Another 9 hours in the car and 350km later we arrive unscathed at the ski resort of Geilo. Another action packed and busy drive in amazing scenery.

Many extremely icy regularities including one that we got stuck on the approach and I had to push the car with another competitor to gain enough momentum to get the volvo up to the start, However, I had a 200m sprint to catch up and then 25 seconds to get ready for the off….Fortunately we stayed on the road and completed the test without drama (once I got my breath back)

Jane Wignall’s hands stained after digging the car out!
The last regularity, as dark was falling, was a memorable one for many as over 10 cars left the road and needed recovery. The steady approach pays off in these circumstances as we made the finish intact.

The results from lunch bring us up by 3 places to the top 20 and I’m expecting a few more once the end of day figures are calculated in the morning.

Tomorrow brings another long day and the first of the two night sections. The steady approach will be engaged again so let’s see how it goes…..!
