Rally of the Tests preparation

Rally of the Tests starts on Thursday afternoon with a short prologue before the three day event leaves Newcastle for Blackpool via Scotland.

Many hours of map plotting have been completed in advance and a brand new GaugePilot with the latest screen upgrade readied for our departure tomorrow.

My ride is with Michael Moss in his Sunbeam Rapier, the same car we did well in on the Classic Marathon in Italy back in June. It should be a good car for this event as its strong, manoeuvrable and respectably fast. The car has been checked over and some underside repairs done. I just need to fit the GaugePilot and we are ready to go.

The event has moved on since I last did it several years ago and it’s looking tricky! 20 Ordnance Survey maps, a road book, a tests book, speed tables, plus plenty of other information to juggle as well as stop watches and a time card. I must make the ‘on board’ office organised!

Follow our progress on the official CRA web page;
Which will give results and reports as the event happens.

Also as a member of Team Retro-Speed watch out for more photos and reports here;
