Winter Trial day 4

Another dawn start from the hotel in Trysil.
The first control, unusually, was 11km away at another rally cross circuit, however we weren’t so lucky and got stuck in the snow half way round and had to dig our selves out. This lost valuable time and made for a flustered morning over the next regularities and time controls.

Dawn in Lillehammer

We crossed to Sweden, another new country for me, and it turned milder. This makes the roads far more treacherous as the melting water over ice is incredibly slippy and it meant careful driving to avoid leaving the road again. As found by several crews!

Slippy regularity

An amazing frozen lake gave us a 10km driving test in a track ploughed through the snowy covering. Surprisingly it was quite grippy unlike the next rally cross stage that was just slick ice you couldn’t walk on.

A couple of regularities finished the day and we are now in a splendid hotel with great ambiance.

All smiles at the lunch control

Tomorrow is a very long day finishing with the legendary night loop back in Norway. It should prove to be an interesting evening and cause some upheaval in the results.
